Department Electrochemical Energy Storage

Raman Lab (LR 322)

In situ Raman spectroscopy is employed to investigate the polysulfide species in the sulfur cathode and in the electrolyte during the cycling of Li/S batteries. The aim is to understand the discharge mechanism and the influence of the electrolyte on the dissolution of sulfur and polysulfides. In this lab, we work with a Raman Laser (532 nm, 500 mw, Laser class 3B). It can be operated only with Interlock system (room door, sliding doors, laser probe). One has to wear laser safety googles at all times (3 googles available) and personal training before using is mandatory
